Custom Orthotics: New Technology That Offers Superior Orthotics

Since the birth of orthotics in the 20th century, body support solutions have evolved every single year to another level. In the 1950’s manual manufacturing was the primary go-to solution for foot support. Sixty-eight years later, Custom 3D Printed Orthotics is a new technology that our clinic in Barrie, Ontario is proud to be the first medical clinic in Canada to prescribe.

Utilizing the Multi Jet Fusion 3D printer made by HP Inc., the machine can create a precision mold like no other before it to your foot. The nylon printing powder and a lattice design gives the insert an unparalleled comfort to every mold that’s printed.

The orthotic is a breakthrough for those dealing with flat feet, plantar fasciitis, shin splints, lower back pain and even high arched feet due to its precision and accuracy. With the insole being so specific for you, there’s nothing else on the market that comes close.

The process is simple: 9 cameras are used to get a precise scan of the foot – then a walking mat is utilized to accrue specific detail of one’s foot balance and walking patterns. So now all adjustments made are to the shell of the orthotic (see photo above) rather than before where there was no shell, and the orthotic foam was made thicker in certain areas to accommodate the foot shape.

With the dawn of a new year on the horizon, there’s no better time to come in for a free consultation. The inserts are in the same price range of typical orthotics for the most part, which makes for an affordable decision.
