What Is ODSP and WSIB?
The Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP and WSIB) is one of Ontario’s social assistance programs that provides income and employment support to eligible citizens. It also provides health care benefits for persons with disabilities in need of assistance.
To qualify as a person with a disability under the Ontario Disability Support Program Act you must have a substantial, recurrent, or continuous physical impairment expected to last a year or longer. The restrictions and duration of the impairment must be verified by an approved health care professional.
Once approved, and depending on your medical status, you may also be eligible for financial assistance with various mobility and assistive devices under the Assistive Devices Program (ADP).
What Does The ADP Cover?
Like ODSP, the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) is another support program from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. It provides financial assistance for people with long-term physical disabilities. The ADP gives Ontarians access to personalized assistive devices appropriate for their individual needs.
Assistive devices can be vital in improving your overall functional ability and managing your chronic pain or condition. They also provide support and promote injury healing.
The ADP generally covers up to 75% of the cost of approved medical devices. In some cases, if further financial assistance is needed, the Ontario Disability Support Program may assist with the additional cost.

What Is WSIB?
WSIB stands for Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. It is a government agency that ensures compensation and medical treatment for employees injured on the job regardless of who is at fault. The WSIB provides financial support to the injured worker during their treatment until they are able to return to work.
