Idea

In 1992 Canada commemorated the 125th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada.  During this year of celebration, the idea was born to create this trail.  All the pieces of the trail are maintained and owned at the local level by trail groups, conservation groups, and municipal, provincial and federal governments.  The groups work together under the umbrella of a non-profit group called Trans Canada Trail that does fundraising to make sure the trail stays in existence.    Click here to read about Sunnidale Park and Arboretum in Barrie, ON.
